COVID Dispatches: Day 8

Unless something changes, I won’t be including an update on Linda. She appears to be done with this.

Today was a crap day. I felt rotten almost all day. The fatigue was gone, but I was nauseous. I started having a dry cough. My yoga breathing was more labored, like the maximum capacity of my lungs had dropped.

I had a televisit with our doctor. He said the symptoms now are not from the virus, but from my body fighting it. He ordered me prescriptions for steroids, antibiotics, an inhaler, and something to help the nausea. The problem is, it took until late in the day for the prescriptions to be ready – not helped by the pharmacy not having the correct phone number in their system.

While waiting to get the meds, my fever jumped to 102.6. Luckily, Linda had an inhaler on hand. I used that and got some relief in about 5 minutes.

We’re ending the day on a hopeful note. I’ve started the medications and they’re already helping. My temperature has dropped to 99.3.

Nicole just dropped off massive amounts of Gatorade and some protein powder, so I can stay hydrated (set the world record for trips to the bathroom today – I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s been something like 30 trips) and nourished.
